Ascension Kickstarter Launch: 20% of $35,000 Goal Reached on Day 1

APRIL 27, 2016 - SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The Kickstarter for "Ascension | Rising in Love" is off to a successful launch, having raised $8,000 of its $35,000 goal on the first day.
Rising in Love
"Ascension | Rising in Love", created by Jeremy Richardson, is a 20 foot interactive sculpture meant to inspire people to reflect on self love, loving others, and love as it relates to their world at large. It's set to appear at Burning Man 2016 and future events around the world.
For many, the concept of being “in love” is defined by default society. Romantic plots in pop culture so often have characters falling in love uncontrollably to finally find “happiness”. Society teaches us that the responsibility of our happiness lies on the shoulders of others, instead of the one place we’ll find it: within ourselves.
Ascension conveys a new definition of love: when separate, whole individuals form a partnership that reinforces their individuality while creating a unit where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The partnership reinforces this while bringing them both to a higher level, together. Along with the sculpture is the poem entitled "Ascension", which ends with: "They didn't fall in love. They ascended to it."
More than art: A community
Love is the foundation of our future. It starts with self love, then how we love our environment and our partners, and from there how we love and raise our children, who are the future.
From self-love we can rise together to bring more love into the world at large. And so, from Ascension the sculpture sprouted AscendToLove - the community. This is a community rooted in love, compassion, and empathy for the self.
This community is for everyone. The more we share our experiences, the more we’ll realize how similar we all are, and the illusion that we are separate from one another will be lifted, one person at a time.
