It all starts with self love
“Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
For many, the concept of being “in love” is defined by default society. Romantic plots in pop culture so often have characters falling in love uncontrollably to finally find “happiness”. Society teaches us that the responsibility of our happiness lies on the shoulders of others. We spend so much time looking for happiness - love - everywhere but the one place we’ll find it: within ourselves.
An incredibly relevant fortune I received from a long lost friend I ran into on the last day of Burning Man 2015.
Ascension conveys a different definition of love: when separate, whole individuals form a partnership that reinforces their individuality while creating a unit where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The partnership reinforces this while bringing them both to a higher level, together.
Through this symbolism, Ascension creates a space that inspires people to reflect on self love, loving others, and love as it relates to their world at large.
