For many, the concept of being “in love” is defined by default society. Romantic plots in pop culture so often have characters falling in love uncontrollably to finally find “happiness”. Society teaches us that the responsibility of our happiness lies on the shoulders of others. We spend so much time looking for happiness - love - everywhere but the one place we’ll find it: within ourselves.
Ascension conveys a different definition of love: when separate, whole individuals form a partnership that reinforces their individuality while creating a unit where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The partnership reinforces this while bringing them both to a higher level, together.
Through this symbolism, Ascension creates a space that inspires people to reflect on self love, loving others, and love as it relates to their world at large.
Thousands of people at Burning Man 2016 and Symbiosis Gathering have gotten a chance to experience Ascension's healing transmission. Here are just a few loving Tales of Ascension from these two events.
I had the most beautiful moment of my life recently. It's a story of love, heartbreak, and love-after-heartbreak. I wrote it down for me, but am sharing it with you in the event you like love stories.
We shared promises of love and affection, shared our hopes for the future, and how we would care for each other and love each other, honestly and wholly
I had to discover self-love and personal acceptance following a soul crushing separation that transformed my life.
Thank you, Jeremy Richardson and all of the Ascension build crew, for creating this beautiful art piece that was the inspiration and the backdrop for our wedding.
Ascension just made me realize how happy I am to have met her and and how happy I am at the place I am in my life right now. It was my favorite piece of Burning Man for those reasons.
I went to the playa this year with friend and wound up falling madly, wildly, and deeply in love with her over the course of the week.
Witnessed a man propose to the love of his life in your installation, Jeremy Richardson! it was truly one of the warmest moments i experienced this year <3
Have a photo of Ascension you want to share? Email it to jeremy@jrich.io and it will be added to this gallery <3.
